Strategy drives what type of business you're in and the type of change you may need to get there. Here is an example where I defined a new product to meet an unmet customer need. My approach was to first listen to end users and map out their pain points. I then researched possible market solutions. From there, I sized the opportunity and founded a new startup to define a first of its kind software application. In the end, I created the product strategy, business plan, product definition, and pitch deck for pre-seed investment.
To realize a vision or solve a business problem, change needs to be initiated and managed well with frequent communication with stakeholders internally and externally. Here is a sample approach I relied on in two instances to help: 1) a private tech company launch its first product to market and 2) a public $1Bn tech company transform from being engineering/tech driven to customer-focused. My approach in both companies was to first understand their current state, define the goals or desired outcomes based on the organization's strategy, and then create an integrated program plan to execute either within a specific business function such as Operations or across the entire organization.
Innovation means continuously measuring, iterating, and learning in order to solve problems in unique ways. Here are examples from past projects where I helped organizations innovate and sustain transformative change. Included is a sample M&A integration playbook similar to what I co-wrote for a multi-billion dollar global SAAS company, a customer journey map and personas I designed for a new software app, and go-to-market processes and KPIs I rolled out with cross-functional teams to launch the first-ever commercial product.
I have a proven track record of operating a business across multiple functions to deliver strategy and meet revenue targets both in public and private companies. Here are a few sample deliverables where I built out the business for an early stage startup as it went from 60 to 200+ people and from Series B to Series C funding. I collaborated with the CEO and executive team to facilitate annual planning, build business functions and processes, manage resources, and run the day to day operations. I translated the CEO’s vision into action plans to ready the business for its first commercial revenue. Examples here include new frameworks for human resources to hire the organization's first VP of People, and sample Customer Success metrics to understand customer sentiment in the early days of the company's operations.
